


Coach Todd Fitz-Gerald - Head Coach
Head Coach Todd Fitz-Gerald is entering his 25th season coaching high school baseball, his 17th in the role of Head Coach. This is his eight season at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as Head Coach of the Douglas Eagles Baseball program. Coach Fitz-Gerald comes with an impressive reputation and highly successful career, having served as Head Coach for ten seasons at his own alma mater, American Heritage. During his coaching, career, Coach Fitz-Gerald led his teams to an impressive overall record of 373-103.
Coach Fitz-Gerald’s teams have been in the state playoffs for sixteen consecutive years. During that time his teams have won fourteen district titles, five regional championships, two State titles and in 2016 a National Championship title. They have been ranked in the top 50 teams in the country nine of those years. Coach Fitz-Gerald has been named ‘Coach of the Year’ seven times in the past eleven years. He was awarded National High School Baseball Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2016 by Baseball America, USA Today News, and the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association). In addition to those prestigious recognitions, Coach Fitz-Gerald is proud that 21 of his players have been drafted in the professional baseball draft with his most notable players, 1st baseman for the Kansas City Royals, Eric Hosmer, and Adrian Nieto catcher with the Chicago White Sox.
A longtime resident of Broward County, Coach Fitz-Gerald and his wife, Colleen, have been married for 20 years and have two sons, Hunter 17 and Devin 12. Coach wishes to thank his family for supporting his role. “My wife is the one who drives the ship, it takes a very special person to be a coach’s wife. Without her support, none of this would be possible.” The Fitz-Geralds live in Margate, FL and enjoy family time in the mountains of North Carolina.
